"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. "Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of
the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your
cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in
them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.
(Exo 20:8-11)

Mosaic rules regarding commandments:
"For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy day, a sabbath of complete rest to the LORD; whoever
does any work on it shall be put to death. "You shall not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the sabbath day."
(Exo 35:2-3)

"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
(Exo 20:12)

"They shall say to the elders of his city, 'This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey us, he is a glutton and
a drunkard.' "Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death; so you shall remove the evil from your midst, and all Israel
will hear of it and fear.
(Deu 21:20-21)

---

"You shall not commit adultery.
(Exo 20:14)

"If a man is found lying with a married woman, then both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman; thus
you shall purge the evil from Israel.
(Deu 22:22)

Is there a convincing reason to believe the 4th commandment is in a different category from the other nine?

How do the 10 commandments apply to a Christian's life?

Summary
"The recongnition of the distinction of the day is indepsenisble to its observance. So unless you and I be convinced that God has
distinguished this day for all of time and that becuase He has distinguished it in this way we must live within the framework of
what He has laid down then any attempts at keeping the sabbath day will simply be a result of legalistic externallism or time
tradition or customary" A. Begg on John Murray.

"It is a conviction about its distinction which creates relevance to its observance" e.g. "A child is told to go worship. If you
ask them if they want to the answer is 'no'." The same for any commandment. For example, if we only honor the commandment about
adultry because of its pragmatic usefullness "keep you out of trouble :)" not because divine authority or internal conviction
then we may be left to the winds of circumstance.

First day, signifies resurrection day. As last day of the week memorialized creation and deliverance from egypt (Deu 5:15)

On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight.
(Act 20:7)

On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.
(1Co 16:2)

I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet,
