At the heart of evolution is the need for many generations for minor variations to develop into increasingly complex forms (there's much to be said about this ill conceived notion of increasing information in a closed system). However, the crux is that for these many generations to happen, you must have death. The bible says death did not exist in creation (Gen 1:29-30) and came as a result of original sin (Gen 2:17, Gen 3:19, Rom 5:12). Death is the result of sin (Rom 6:23, Jam 1:15, 1Jo 5:17). Death will be wiped away (Rev 21:4)
So Christianity and evolution are incompatible at the most basic level.
