Isa 40:8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever."

Eph 6:17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

2Ti 3:16 All Scripture [is] God-breathed and [is] beneficial for teaching [or, doctrine], for verification [or, reproof], for correcting faults, for instruction in righteousness [or, the behavior that God requires],

Psa 119:11 Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You.

Psa 119:93-94 I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have revived me. (94) I am Yours, save me; For I have sought Your precepts.

Act 17:10-11 The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. (11) Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

Even the evil one uses the bible: Mat 4:6 and says to Him, "Since You are God's Son, throw Yourself down, for it has been written, 'He will give orders to His angels concerning You,' and 'they will lift You up on [their] hands, lest You strike Your foot against a stone.'" [Psalm 91:11,12]

Likewise, Christian Scientists, Mormons and the like do as well. It is the sword on which they will fall.

Mat 4:10-11 Then Jesus says to him, "Be going away behind Me Satan ["Adversary"]! For it has been written, 'The LORD your God you will prostrate yourself in worship before, and Him only will you sacredly serve.'" [Deut 6:13] (11) Then the Devil leaves Him. And look! Angels came and began ministering to Him.

2Pe 1:20-21 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus

Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
(Joh 1:45)

If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?"
(Joh 5:46-47)

Heb 10:7 Then I said, 'Here I am--it is written about me in the scroll-- I have come to do your will, O God.' "

Psa 40:7 Then I said, "Here I am, I have come-- it is written about me in the scroll."

Not that need it to be compelled to belief

The Bible was “given by inspiration of God.” (2 Tim, iii. 16.) In this respect it is utterly unlike all other writings. God taught the writers of it what to say. God put into their minds thoughts and ideas. God guided their pens in setting down those thoughts and ideas. When you read it, you are not reading the self-taught compositions of poor imperfect men like yourself, but the words of the eternal God. When you hear it, you are not listening to the erring opinions of short-lived mortals, but to the unchanging mind of the King of kings. The men who were employed to indite the Bible, spoke not of themselves. They “spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” (2 Peter i. 21.) All other books in the world, however good and useful in their way, are more or less defective. The more you look at them the more you see their defects and blemishes. The Bible alone is absolutely perfect. From beginning to end it is “the Word of God.”  - J. C. Ryle from Practical Religion chapter 5. link

Apocrypha

Greek for "hidden"

Hebrew old testament never contained these books. Only the greek old testament did. About 60 years after the crucifixion of Christ, a group of Rabbi's (survivors of the Roman annihilation of Jerusalem) met at Jamnia and canonized a Hebrew scripture specifically devoid of Greek writings. Any work of scripture not originally written in Hebrew was discarded as unclean. (source)

14 Books are: Ecclesiasticus, Wisdom, 1-2 Maccabees, Tobit, Judith, Baruch. As well as additions to Esther and Daniel (History of Suzanna, Song of the 3 holy children, Bel and the Dragon.), Prayer of Mannasses, 1-2 Esdras (reconstruction of Ezra).

Roman church didn't accept all of these as canonical it until council of Trent April, 1546  (source), (Geisler and Nix, General Introduction to the Bible, p. 270)

When Martin Luther broke with the Catholic Church, he ordered the Greek Apocrypha placed between the Old Testament and the New Testament in his 1534 Bible, with the inscription:

"Apocrypha: these are book which are not held equal to the Sacred Scriptures and yet are useful and good for reading". (source)
